Study Plan for World History Exam

Image
Study Plan for World History Exam (Click here!) I have created an outline d and detailed study plan for you to complete in preparation for your exam.  My suggestion on how to use this: Choose the areas that you think will help you the most.  If videos help, watch CrashCourse.  If you want access to more indepth reading, do the Regents Prep Pack.   Challenge yourself.  You need to make yourself work for this information in order to better understand what you are learning.  Don't just skim over a paper, really read.  Make notes.  Highlight.  Look or read something that makes you truly think!! Focus on material we have not gotten to in class.  We will cover Unit 8, but we don't have time to go very far.  This also makes up 20-24% of our exam. For various reasons, we weren't able to spend the time I wanted to here.  So make sure to review this stuff.   Study.  Look over this information.  Use the tools I h...

Exam Prep Time Is Here!!!

FIRST, we need to complete to online tutorial for your NCFE.   We will all watch the video tutorial on my screen. You will then complete the individual tutorial on your chromebook.  From your app menu, choose the NCTest app and select tutorial.  Follow the directions. Sign the paper that I pass around stating you have completed the tutorial. ____________________________________________________________ This week, we will begin our prepping for the NCFE you will take in a couple of weeks. It is important that you are active in your studying for this exam.  It counts toward your final grade, which should be very important to you.  We have been tasked with learning the entire history of the world in less than 90 day!! It is nearly impossible, so there are many things we have not covered in depth (or at all).  Below are links to documents and resources you can use to study.  Some of these will be covered in class, but you need to take it upon you...

Good afternoon!  Today, you are going to be working on several different (and very important!) things.  It is important that you use your time wisely in order to get it all done.  Please use this time to your advantage!! Click HERE to have me explain what we are doing today! Test corrections:  If your original test score from Monday was BELOW A 75, you need to first work on test corrections.  I will give you one point per correct answer back to your score.  This is important for some of you!! Missing Work:  All work that has been given to me is graded.  Which means, all work NOT given to me is listed as a zero in PowerSchool.  You need to get this to me.  All missing work was due last Friday, so I am being VERY nice letting you do this! :) Work on your projects.  Any time you have left over (or if you did well on your test and have no missing work) needs to be devoted to your project.  Use this time wisely.  The...

Friday, April 22

We are going to try something new today!!  Since I am not there, I have prepared videos (using Screencastify) to go over your lesson and add all the things to it that I normally would share with you.  So the day can go just as it always would.   Begin by watching CNN Student News.  Please pay attention.  Typically you are doing vocab during this time, but since we did that together yesterday...just listen since so much has happened this week. We did an introduction to Exploration yesterday, so today we will begin the PowerPoint.  Click on the videos below and follow along with me in your notes to fill in the blanks.  Pause the videos when you are supposed to answer questions, or if you need to go back over something.   First off...Click on these Part One:  Introduction to New Technology  Part Two:  New Technology to Assessment Questions When we finish, complete the assessment questions.  There are six with this lesson...

Age of Exploration

Image
We will finish out this week by beginning our study on the Age of Exploration.  We will see how Europe has fully emerged from the Middle Ages, embraced the Renaissance and with that began to explore the world around them.  We will follow each European country's route to North and South America and try to understand why they came over here to begin with.   This unit will not have a Prezi, but the Google Slide is linked under the "Assignments" tab.  Several other assignments are linked, but will be given to you on paper to draw, map and better understand what we are talking about.  I hope to also utilize some of the tools that I learned yesterday...so we will see!!

Wednesday, April 20

First of all, BEHAVE!! Today, you will be testing on the Renaissance and Reformation.  Classes will be shorter due to the Early Release (40 minutes).  Please listen to the substitute and be on your best behavior. Testing conditions are the same as always.  Be quiet and let others work to their best ability.  You will be working on a reading activity on Renaissance life when you are finished.  If you do not finish this in class, it will be a homework assignment.  This will count as a quiz grade! You need to do your best and be sure to answer the written response question.   I'll see you tomorrow!!

Early Release Schedule for Wednesday

8:00-8:40 First Block 8:45-9:30 Second Block 9:35-10:15 Third Block 10:20-11:00 Fourth Block 11:00-11:45 Lunch 11:45 GO HOME!

KAHOOT!!! Study for your test tomorrow!

Image
We began this in class today, but click on the link to study for your test tomorrow! There are twenty questions on this, but 33 on your test...so review your notes as well! Good luck!! Any information can be written on your index card to use with your test! Play Kahoot!

Check PowerSchool!

Image
Everything that has been turned in has been graded and put in PowerSchool.  When you finish today, work on anything that may be missing.  You must have these missing assignments turned in to me by the time you come back from Spring Break.   ALL MISSING ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE APRIL 4!! If you have turned in everything, you will be making a Medieval Coat of Arms.  Use the directions to create a Coat of Arms to describe who you are.  There are many different examples throughout history, but here is a Coat of Arms for Carter... Coat of Arms, or Family Crest, has long been a symbol of a family's identity and values. Originally used to identify warriors dressed in armor, each knight chose symbols and colors to represent his family or clan. These family crests or coats of arms have been passed down throughout generations.

Test Tomorrow!

Be sure to study for your test tomorrow that covers the early Middle Ages.  Study your notes and the PowerPoints.  You can use THIS website to help you too!! Since the power was out this afternoon, you will need to complete the 7.4 notes section on your own for homework and share it with me before you come to class on Thursday.  The PowerPoint and notes are available under Links to Docs.  Vocabulary for section 7.4:   Charter :  a written document that set out the rights and privileges of a town Capital :  money or wealth used to invest in business or enterprise Tenant Farmer :  someone who would pay rent to a lord to farm part of the lord's land Middle Class:  a group of people, including merchants, traders and artisans, whose rank was between nobles and peasants Guild :  an association of merchants or artisans, who cooperated to uphold standards of their trade and to protect their economic interests Apprentice :  a yo...

Medieval Europe

Image
Today, we being our studies of Medieval Europe.  Over the next few weeks (because we have to throw Spring Break into the middle of it!), we will look at how the world changed after the Fall of Rome and got a little darker.... well, maybe not. This unit will cover Chapters 7 and 8 in the textbook.  Vocabulary can be found on Quizlet or in the textbook.  Notes are available online (Honors) or on paper (Standard).  There will be assessment questions at the end of each section, and other reading passages that will go into certain topics we will be covering.  There is not a Prezi for this unit.   We will be using PowerPoints, which will only be made available for those absent and to study by when each class has completely finished that section. You will be learning about feudalism, knights and castles, the Black Death, the Crusades, and just how difficult life was during this time in Western Europe.  We will also see how it evolved into what beca...

Late Work

Image
It is becoming a problem with some of you about turning your work in on time. Up to this point, I had hoped to not start a late work policy, but here it goes.... You will have time in class to work on assignments.  The assignments is due that day unless I tell you otherwise.  Failing to turn into the box or share with me assignments before the bell rings, results in your work being late.  I will automatically take 20 points off of your grade, in addition to any points deducted for incorrect answers.  You will get progress reports every three weeks.  The week you get your progress report (I will announce the date but typically the day after you get your progress report) will be the last day I will take anything missing from the progress report.  At that point, your "missing" 0 will turn into a "permanent" 0 and I will make a note in PowerSchool that you failed to turn in your work on time.   If you are absent, you will have five days af...
